Cost Control Services - PATman facilities:

Cost Control Services provides specialist Portable Appliance Testing in the Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire areas of the UK. We are able to test appliances running from 230V or 110V supplies, assuming equipment fitted with plug connections.

The Service

Working on an agreed fixed price per item basis (which can include minor repairs such as re-termination of wiring, new plugs and/or fuses), we carry out formal inspection and testing as laid out in the IEE Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment for portable appliances. This involves the following procedure:
 

• Each item is given an asset number.
  
• Formal inspection of cable, plug, internal plug wiring and fuse.
  
• Assuming visual inspection passed, approved testing takes place using a Portable Appliance Tester that retains all details of test.
  
• All items passing tests are provided with a sticker indicating result, asset number and date of next inspection. Any item failing test will be discussed during the visit and appropriate action taken accordingly.
  
• At the end of testing equipment on site, the test results are removed from site and downloaded to a PC. A report is then compiled giving written proof of results - copy sent to client.
  
• Cost Control Services will retain test results so that details can be verified, if required, and comparisons made against future results to see if degradation of equipment has taken place since last test.

MANY PORTABLE APPLIANCES USED IN THE NORMAL WORK ENVIRONMENT SHOULD BE FORMALLY INSPECTED AND TESTED EVERY 12 MONTHS AND ON CONSTRUCTION SITES EVERY 6 MONTHS!
